Volcanic Milos is a geologically diverse island with weird rock formations, hot springs and odd outcrops off the coast. Obsidian and other products of its volcanic soil made it one of the most important island of the Cyclades in the ancient world. Today, the quarrying of many rare minerals has left huge scars on the landscape but has given the island a relative prosperity, which today translates, into a rapid tourist growth.
This attractive island is particularly famous for the Venus of Milos statue, which was discovered in Milos in 1820. The stunning statue is now displayed in the Louvre Museum in Paris, where thousands of visitors stand in awe in front of its beauty!
Milos beaches are emblematic and especially the gorgeous Sarakiniko beach. This beach boasts a lunar landscape, consisting of volcanic gleaming white rock formations and crystal clear turquoise waters. Kleftiko is another intensely popular sightseeing. Boasting towering rock formations and emerald waters, this former pirate hideaway, is now the imposing trademark of the island and a very popular scenery and destination for yacht lovers! Apart from Sarakiniko and Kleftiko though, Milos has over 50 beautiful exotic beaches worth visiting.
