Ideally located in the heart of the Ionian Sea, Kefalonia has inspired many with its beauty and has been the filming location of the famous movie “Captain Corelli’s Mandolin”. Actually, wherever you set your eyes on, you will see nature at its best. Kefalonia is the biggest island of the Ionian and for many people is one of the most beautiful ones. Possessing a breathtaking natural landscape with exotic beaches, picturesque fishing villages and magical underground caves.
Kefalonia is worldwide famous for its scenic beaches (as Myrtos, Antisamos, Lourdas, Skala), imposing landscapes and delicious food, the island attracts and fascinates thousands of visitors. Indigo bays, captivating villages (Fiscardo, Argostoli, Sami, Assos), white dazzling sand, exciting activities, mysterious caves, and lively atmosphere create an exotic holiday paradise in the middle of the Ionian Sea.
A common recommendation is to split your time up and choose two or three places to stay around the island. Capital Argostoli is a functional modern town but not a bad base if you are looking for nightlife. The main beach resorts on Kefalonia are Lassi (the beach suburb of Argostoli) and Skala.
